We won! The pace was hard and the riders all wanted to cap off the series with a win. But alas, to the cheers of the motivating crowd,
Epic Velo wins!The race started with attacks and replies (skip,
dillon,
jeremy,
bruce,
gregg) including a sick tough acceleration by skip and
jeremy. Joe took 2
nd in the prime and then the pace went nuts! Dillon's heart rate averaged 185
bpm over the whole race!!! The team had torn themselves apart responding and attacking! Chris B got out on a solo break for three laps, and the other teams finally had to do something. Chris B and Joe were the only
survivors to see the last lap. The team did what it could.
Standing by the side line the bell rang for final lap. Instantly the pace went up. The
peleton, a shell of its former self, accelerated to a inhuman pace. Laying the bikes over into corner # 1. Then out of view. It's quiet while their on the back stretch. Last corner, bikes and men going so fast you can't even pick out your team mates! Then, as the finish line seemed to sprint
toward the riders, Joe K's white helmet and sunglasses emerged from the
hectic power of the front sprinters! He
Win's! Cheers and claps! Laughs and high fives! Then it's quiet again. This is the reason we race. This is why we all match. This is what the training is for. Not the face of the losers but the face on the winners, your team.
